1 milion to be distributed to the top candidates for UWr studies
Dear Candidates! As soon as you cross the threshold of our University, attractive financial support programmes await you. As much as PLN 1 million will be awarded to first-year male and female students as part of the Young Researcher 2020-2025 – Student Scholarships programme.
The scholarship programme is aimed at first-year male and female students recruited to the University of Wrocław as medallists, laureates and finalists of olympiads or candidates with the highest results obtained in the recruitment process. As much as PLN 1 million in total will go to the scholarship recipients.
The programme is being implemented as part of a University of Wrocław project awarded in the Research University Excellence Initiative competition.
In last year’s second edition of the “Young Researcher 2020-2025” scholarship competition applied 172 students University of Wrocław. The ranked list of scholarship recipients (full-time students in the first academic year 2021/2022) included:
- medallists of international olympiads – 1 student,
- finalists and winners of subject olympiads – 29 students,
- students with the highest score in the recruitment process in the system IRK – 70 students, of which two students were qualified on the basis of § 5 point, 1 of the Regulations of the Young Researcher 2020-2025 scholarships.
In accordance with the regulations, a minimum of two people from each department received scholarships. The number of people shortlisted by faculty is as follows:
- College of Interdisciplinary Individual Studies – 2
- Faculty of Biotechnology – 3
- Faculty of Chemistry – 3
- Faculty of Letters – 28
- Faculty of Physics and Astronomy – 2
- Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science – 29
- Faculty of Biological Sciences – 3
- Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences – 14
- Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences – 2
- Faculty of Social Sciences – 2
- Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics – 12.
The amount of the scholarship is varies depending on the points earned during the competition. Last year, the best student received a total of PLN 17240 (PLN 1724 for 10 months), and the following students each PLN 12930 or PLN 8620. More information here.
Those admitted to the first year of studies medallists of international olympiads and laureates and finalists of olympiads subject central degree scholarships are awarded for a period of 10 months and paid from October to July (the scholarship for October and November is paid in November). The condition for the payment of the scholarship in the summer semester is the completion of the subjects required by the programme of the first semester of studies.
People admitted to the first year of studies with the highest score in the recruitment process scholarships are awarded for a period of 10 months and paid from March to July in 5 instalments, in the amount corresponding to twice the monthly scholarship amount the scholarships are paid out in 5 instalments from March to July, in an amount equivalent to twice the monthly scholarship amount.
During the period of the scholarship, the student may only study at the University of Wrocław.
A student studying in more than one field of study at the University of Wrocław may submit only one application for the “Young Researcher 2020-2025” scholarship.
