CASUSCON – international conference
Under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science, the UWr-CASUS-HZDR International Conference on Advanced Systems Research (CASUSCON), organised by the University of Wrocław and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, was taken place from 11-15 July, 2022.
We took the opportunity to ask how strong this collaboration is. Does it happen only in theory or is there actually joint research? And if so, what kind? The coordinators from the Polish and German sides gave us the answers. Details in the video.
Przy okazji zapytaliśmy, o to jak silna ta współpraca jest. Dzieje się tylko w teorii czy faktycznie prowadzone są wspólne badania? A jeśli tak – to jakie? Odpowiedzi udzielili nam koordynatorzy z polskiej i niemieckiej strony. Szczegóły w filmie (należy włączyć podpisy).
The conference was opened by the Rector of the University of Wrocław, prof. Robert Olkiewicz, and the co-chairs of the conference scientific committee, prof. Eugeniusz Zych of UWr and prof. Sebastian M. Schmidt.
Supporting partners of the organisers were the Piastów Śląskich Medical University in Wrocław and the Wrocław University of Life Sciences. Organisational support for the entire event was provided by the German Consulate General in Wrocław. The Scientific Committee is co-chaired by prof. Eugeniusz Zych of UWr and prof. Sebastian M. Schmidt, Director of HZDR, who are internationally renowned for their scientific achievements. CASUSCON is the next step in the creation of the Polish-German Wrocław Centre for Advanced Systems Research.
The Wrocław conference will be the first direct meeting of scientists from Lower Silesia and Saxony after the pandemic, where interested scientists will exchange experiences, discuss the possibilities for joint synergistic research, which will make it possible to decisively strengthen and expand cooperation between research groups from Poland and Germany, and in the near future to jointly apply for EU funding for the most advanced research for the latest and future technologies.

During the conference, dozens of scientists from Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic gave presentations on health and life sciences, matter and energy and other research areas relevant to the development of science and technology. A poster session for doctoral students and undergraduates is also planned. We plan that this year’s conference is the first in the CASUSCON series and becomes a permanent feature in the calendar of academic events in Wrocław and Lower Silesia.
