National Science Centre
The call for proposals for bilateral or trilateral research projects for teams from Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany and Poland is open. Projects can cover basic research in all disciplines. The NCN does not act as the lead agency in this competition. National proposals should be sent to the NCN only in electronic form via the osf system, as soon as possible after submitting the joint application to the lead agency (in 2021 the role of the lead agency is performed by FWF, GAČR, ARRS, SNSF or DFG), not longer than 7 calendar days
The Director of the National Science Center announced the MINIATURA 5 competition, to which applications may be submitted for the implementation of a single scientific activity in one of the following forms: preliminary / pilot research, query, research internship, research trip or consultation trip. The main goal of the competition is to provide financial support for a scientific activity aimed at the preparation of a future research project planned for submission to NCN calls, other national or international calls. Funding in the amount of PLN 5,000 to 50,000 for the implementation of a scientific activity lasting up to 12 months can be obtained in the contest. The call for applications is open until September 30, 2021.
National Centre for Research and Development
The aim of the EUREKA initiative is to increase the modernity, productivity and competitiveness of European industry. It funds projects that are implemented by at least two partners from two different Member States. These projects must be focused on the development and implementation or significant improvement of the existing production technology, implementation of a new product or service. European Interest Group (EIG) CONCERT-Japan is an international joint initiative supporting and developing science, technology and innovation (STI) cooperation between European countries and Japan. So far 7 competitions have been held under this initiative (the first two competitions as ERA-NET). An international consortium should consist of at least three entities: one from Japan and two from different European countries. Thematic scope: Sustainable Hydrogen Technology as Affordable and Clean Energy. End of the call for applications: July 10, 2021
The EJP SOIL program supports action towards the sustainable management of agricultural soils, taking into account climate issues. Countries participating in the program are committed to the overall goal of providing sustainable agricultural soil management solutions that contribute to addressing key societal challenges, including climate change and future food supplies. COST actions broadly subsidize the activity of the created scientific networks by reimbursing costs related to mobility, participation in expert meetings, conferences and summer schools, and also enable short-term internships in foreign centers. The current call for applications lasts until October 29, 2021.

The 9th research and innovation framework program, scheduled for 2021-2027, with a record budget of around € 95.5 billion. Each subsequent program is a continuation of the previous ones, but also includes updates resulting from changing social, economic and environmental conditions. The new program prioritizes counteracting the harmful effects of climate change and – what is very beneficial for Poland – a wide range of instruments supporting the equalization of opportunities for the member states (the so-called widening) has been proposed. The European Commission is looking for leading innovators to sit on the European Innovation Council (EIC Board)
The European Innovation Council (EIC) has announced a competition for members of the EIC Board, which plays an important role in overseeing the implementation of Europe’s most ambitious innovation program with a budget of EUR 10 billion. The European Commission is looking for passionate innovators – incl. entrepreneurs, investors, researchers and academics with knowledge in fields related to future and emerging technologies, breakthrough innovations, starting and scaling a business. The conference will be held online on June 17. Employees of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway, the Norwegian Research Council, the Financial Mechanism Office in Brussels and winners of the GRIEG, IdeaLab and POLS competitions will attend. The conference program includes a presentation of the Basic Research program – a summary of its implementation so far and plans for the future, as well as an expert discussion on open science (Open Access).
