The employment within the research project „The impact of legal and institutional conditions on the educational experience of doctoral candidates in law” led by Maciej Juzaszek, financed by the Polish National Science Centre

The eligible candidates must meet the statutory requirements defined in the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (JoL, 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of the University of Wrocław.

List of the main responsibilities:

  1. Designing and conducting phenomenography research of doctoral students in Poland and abroad on the impact of legal and institutional factors on their educational experience.
  2. Analysis of the received data.
  3. Preparation of publications and conference papers in English and Polish.

Requirements for the candidate: 

  1. A PhD degree in social sciences in the disciplines of law or sociology (no later than on the date of signing the contract) obtained on the basis of a dissertation in the field of sociology of law (at the time of submitting the application, the candidate should have at least 2 positive reviews of the dissertation in one of the above-mentioned disciplines).
  2. Master’s degree in law (for PhD in sociology) or sociology (for PhD in law) will be an added advantage.
  3. Scientific output in the sociology of law.
  4. Experience in presenting papers at international conferences.
  5. Experience in conducting sociological empirical studies, especially using qualitative methods.
  6. Experience in research on education.
  7. Fluency in Polish and a good command of spoken and written English (documented by publications in English) are expected.
  8. Knowledge of methodology of phenomenography research.
  9. Skills in using qualitative data analysis software, such as CAQDAS.
  10. Skills in teamwork.
  11. Declaration of conducting research in the discipline of law in 100%.

Required documents: 

  1. Detailed curriculum vitae including a list of scientific publications, grants and conference papers in the last ten years.
  2. Copy of a document certifying a doctoral degree in law or in sociology (or 2 positive reviews of the dissertation in one of the above-mentioned disciplines).
  3. Personal questionnaire of the person applying for employment (download Personal data form).
  4. Statement whether the University of Wrocław will be the primary place of work in the case of winning the competition (download Workplace statement).
  5. Declaration of the discipline in which the candidate will conduct research, and in the case of people conducting research in more than one discipline, the percentage of their involvement in each of these disciplines (download Scientific discipline declaration).
  6. 1- or 2-page self-presentation including the description of conducting qualitative sociological studies and international research on education, clearly indicating the candidate’s achievements, referring separately to the criterion of scientific activity, the criterion of internationalization, and the criterion of organizational activity.
  7. Electronic versions of the two most important publications (or typescripts of unpublished work) that the candidate considers representative of their scholarly achievements or an explanation for their lack, as well as the possibility for the Chairman of the Committee to demand that all or selected scientific publications or other documents be submitted.
