Let’s save our toads

Spring is the time when most living creatures wake up after long winter stagnation. Also amphibians emerge from hibernation and, like during every spring, they start to wander in search of their spawning grounds. Unfortunately, many dangers await them on their way, with roads and vehicles being the most serious ones. Besides that, significant number of toads is run over by a car. For that reason, various initiatives are undertaken all around the world so that toads can be protected during their long distance migration. Similarly, in Zalesie, for over 12 years, several generations of graduates and doctoral candidates of the University of Wrocław have been looking after common toads.

At the last stretch, the Ministry backed out and refused to vaccinate the latter two groups. We will, however, together with other universities demand that also such employees - who are in close contact with students – are vaccinated. We'll keep you informed.
